Skookum is seeking a skilled and reliable Fire Alarm System Mechanic with a positive attitude.
Typical duties include but are not limited to:
Minimum 6 months experience in fire detection and signaling systems
Knowledge of fire alarm circuitry, associated low voltage systems and basic fire alarm maintenance capabilities, is a plus
Knowledge of requirements as specified by the manufacturer of systems and fixtures.
Knowledge of Fire Sprinkler Systems and how they work
Knowledge of installation, repair and maintenance environmental protection requirements.
Must have working knowledge of alarm panels, communications systems, devices, critical components, life safety, and local codes.
Must have general knowledge of and use hand tools, power tools and appliances required for the installation, maintenance and repair of fire alarms and associated systems.
Must be able to read, understand, and follow: drawings, works plans, maps, manufacturer technical manuals, lubrication instructions, water schematics to ensure proper diagnosis and repair during annual inspections.
Must be able to follow maintenance instructions, service and diagnose systems, and complete repairs.
Inspects fire alarm equipment visually and replaces defective components, tests initiating and signal
circuits, detectors, and system transmitter, makes needed repairs, and checks pressure gauges on suppression system
storage containers and recharges or replaces containers.

Maintains required work, time, material, and equipment maintenance records to update equipment service workbook and daily task sheets consistent with current contract requirements.
Maintain preventive maintenance and repair records in electronic format.
Able to accomplish minor repairs and perform services as outlined in established manufacturer technical manuals.
Must be able to accurately determines needed repair parts and generate parts request.
Operate, clean, and maintain required tools and special equipment.
Maintain professionalism in both appearance and demeanor.
Qualifications:
Minimum 6 months experience in fire alarm systems, fire detection and signaling systems preferred.
Must be certified per UFC 3-601-02 and possess NICET Level I in inspection and testing of fire sprinkler inspection with support documentation or training documentation.
Physical Requirements:
Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance. The physical demands of this position may be reasonably accommodated for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions on a case-by-case basis.
Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time based on position duties.
Work may require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, and walking. Standing or sitting for several hours at a time, climbing in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs may also be required.
Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time.
Requirements:
A valid state driver's license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Skookum's insurance.
Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access. A background check and E-Verify will be conducted for this position.
