Accounts Payable Clerk

A fast paced, financially sound distribution/manufacturing company on Milwaukee's south side is looking to hire an Accounts Payable Clerk to join our team.  The position provides accounts payable support for multiple divisions.

Our company is in the process of changing computer programs, so we are looking for candidates with experience using SYSPRO software, a Window's based program.  Full conversion of the new system is set to be completed by the end of the year. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

• Matches original invoices and requests for payment with purchase orders or check requests; verifies receipt of goods or services; resolves discrepancies and problems regarding prices, delivery, and/or quality
• Codes, verifies, and enters accounts payable data into accounting system, including use tax if appropriate
• Determines and/or reviews invoices for accurate account classifications, approvals, and supporting documentation; prepares and review batches for posting
• Reviews check requests, and/or other related documentation for accuracy, completeness and compliance with financial policies, procedures, and contractual requirements. Resolve any issues in documentation with the appropriate department.
• Prepares check runs and supporting documentation for multiple divisions
• Maintains current files of processed payments and appropriate vendor forms
• Follows up on account statements and other discrepancies regarding payment of accounts
• Supervises the office mail machine by occasionally processing mail and ensuring that there are sufficient funds available
• Serves as backup to Customer Service with taking customer orders
• Completes other duties and projects as assigned

Qualifications of candidates include:

• Must have previous A/P experience
• Proficient in SYSPRO software, Microsoft Office programs (i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook), ten-key calculator
• Have strong attention to detail with problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently
• Strong customer service skills
• Ability to learn/adapt to changing requirements/situations
