JOB SUMMARY
Under general direction, supervises assigned personnel and assumes responsibility for audits of all audit activities for Associated Banc-Corp affiliates, with the exception of those relating to Wealth Management and Information Technology, as assigned, for the evaluation of internal controls and safeguarding of assets in order to appraise the reliability of financial and operational data.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Supervises audits as assigned by reviewing assets, records and operations in the audited areas to determine that all assets are accounted for, that the records are in order, that operations are efficient, and that adequate controls are being followed. Perform assigned field work in a competent and professional manner within time budgets.
2. Demonstrates capacity and evidence for effective decision making and drawing sound conclusions. Identifies system control points and documents and evaluates the adequacy of internal controls.
3. Supervises the activities of the audit staff to maintain an efficiently operating department; related activities include providing on the job training, allocating work and review of workpapers. The review should ensure that workpapers are complete and accurate and that recommendations and comments are material and relative and are adequately documented.
4. Ensures that operating practices and procedures are in compliance with management directives, laws, regulations and sound control practices and recommends new or improved controls where needed.
5. Assists assigned personnel in the detection of weaknesses in controls and the resolution of discrepancies and in suggesting new and improved methods and controls.
6. Plans the activities and reviews the work of audit staff assigned to specific projects and ensure prescribed audit schedules are adhered to.
7. Provides input to the Senior Corporate Audit Manager for the improvement of auditing techniques. Makes and implements recommendations for revisions to the audit process to enhance controls.
8. Keeps abreast of developments in accounting, bank operations and changes in laws and regulations impacting the audit function, as well as changes in the banking industry. Recommend changes noted for the purpose of ensuring that audit programs have been updated accordingly.
9. Pursues continuing education opportunities to enhance personal knowledge and expertise.
10. Plans the individual audits to include development of the scope of the audit as well as the scope and breadth of the individual tests and areas under consideration. Develops a detailed time budget and monitor to ensure that work is completed timely and within budget. Prepares a post-audit review of variances from the budget.
11. Writes reports and management letters for completed audits. Reviews reports written by the Audit Seniors for content and clarity. Prepares written reports to audit committees, senior management and others as required to report audit findings and recommendations.
12. Discusses with area management the results of the audit and other internal control matters.
13. Carries out assignments discreetly, effectively and efficiently in sensitive and confidential circumstances. Ensures continuing development of professional relationships with management and colleagues.
14. Performs special audits and projects as assigned.
