Position Description

We are seeking a Business Analyst who will provide detailed and executable plans to the business that incorporate improvements to process flows, decision criteria, procedures, metrics and work standards, and to lead and/or assist in implementation of those plans.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and help implement procedures, metrics and work standards for internal processes. 
  • Develop, link, and analyze key metrics.  Examine information for evidence of process instabilities, identification of leveraging factors and indications of potential solutions.  Make recommendations based on findings as appropriate.
  • Manage day-to-day activities of a project from initial problem identification through solution implementation.  Emphasis is on the diagnostic (analytical) phase.    
  • Interface with Business Analysts, Architects, and Technical Leads to define scope, requirements, and schedule for each IT project.
  • Establish project work plans and communicate status, risks, and changes to management for all projects.
  • Develop simple and short training modules as required to help broaden team and worker participation in improvement activities.  These include simple diagnostic methods, project management and team participation practices. 
  • Work with field offices to establish, integrate, and harmonize processes for greatest overall efficiency.
  • Coordinate and respond to requests for changes from original specifications.
  • Provide reports and analysis on overall system effectiveness.
  • Special projects as assigned.
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION REQUIRED
  • BS/BA Degree in Statistics, Industrial Engineering, Business, or equivalent experience.
  • Solid knowledge and experience with applied statistical methods, including process control, design of experiments, and analysis of existing data.  Familiarity with development and use of process metrics, particularly in a service and transactional environment.
  • Solid understanding of, and background in, application of lean principles in a transactional environment.
  • Demonstrated track record of successful project management for process improvement, in particular for diagnosis of, and solution to, chronic problems.  Experience managing teams of 5 – 10 people.
  • A basic, but solid understanding of IT/ Business technology operations and practices, particularly including approaches to process automation and optimization.  
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups in an organization from top management through all of the various departments, including distributed field offices.  Demonstrated ability to build consensus and alignment for initiatives and to work through people to accomplish objectives.
  • Possess creative ability, consulting skills, leadership qualities, credibility, and self-confidence.
  • Excellent team player, collaborator, and facilitator.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Black Belt certification is preferred, but Certified Quality Engineer (ASQ), solid Green Belt level experience, or other demonstration of competence in process improvement principles and practices is also acceptable.
