The Green Bay Kroc is getting ready to offer a fun outdoor summer camp for the Summer 2024 season, and we are looking for energetic employees who love working with kids! We currently have openings offering up to full time hours for the summer months, and would love to connect today to tell you more about this exciting opportunity!

KROC CENTER MISSION

In keeping with the mission of The Wisconsin & Upper MI Division of The Salvation Army, The Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center In Green Bay, WI provides facilities, programs and services that encourage, enrich, and strengthen children, adults, and seniors through positive life-changing experiences.

JOB OBJECTIVE

The Summer Day Camp Counselor works directly with children and organizes, prepares, and leads general activities such as arts and crafts, sports, educational, and other age-appropriate activities. They are directly responsible for the safety and well-being of a small group of children aged 5 - 12 by ensuring appropriate behavior and that the group is in the proper location at all times.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Organize, prepare, and execute age-appropriate activities for children ages 5 - 12 such as arts and crafts, sports, educational activities, and games.
  2. Ensure campers meet behavioral expectations and positively intervene when necessary.
  3. Submit material and equipment requirements to the Youth Development Supervisor / Summer Camp Lead Counselor as necessary.
  4. Attend weekly staff meetings as required.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

Attend trainings as required by supervisor.

Other duties as assigned and appropriate for this position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent is desired. General knowledge of games and activities appropriate to the 5 - 12 year old age group.

Certifications: American Red Cross or equivalent 1st Aid / CPR / AED certifications are highly desired.

Experience: Previous work experience working with children in a day camp setting is preferred.

Skills: Conversational knowledge of Spanish is highly desired.

Must be at least 18 years old.

Ability to communicate / work with a diverse population.

Ability to build positive relationships with children and parents / guardians.

Ability to use sound judgment in challenging situations.

Willingness to accept responsibility for a small group of 5 - 12 year old children.

Ability to accept feedback and guidance in the performance of duties.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Working conditions will vary based on the activity being conducted. Some activities will take place indoors in a climate-controlled area while others will take place outdoors with varying temperature and humidity levels at the Green Bay or the Wisconsin and Upper Michigan Division.
