Position Summary:

Become a leader in the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning at UW Oshkosh and collaborate with faculty to ensure high-quality learning experiences for students.

The CETL Team Lead provides management and oversight for instructional design, technology, and development functions for UW Oshkosh's Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning. May provide instructional design, technology, and development services directly to faculty, staff, and other customers as needed. In collaboration with the AVC For Research and Innovation, supervises CETL instructional designers and manages CETL resources to support and enhance teaching and learning across the university.

Responsibilities

The CETL Team Lead:

  • Develops and maintains knowledge of the specific and unique needs of students and instructors at UWO. Assists with the development of strategic planning initiatives and objectives for CETL.
  • Manages a portfolio of instructional design and technology services and support. Recommends, tests, and audits selected learning technologies and/or methods.
  • Provides effective project management and overall coordination of project teams to meet deadlines.
  • Serves as the subject matter expert and CETL liaison to internal and external stakeholders providing operational and strategic information and representing the interests of CETL at UWO.
  • Provides instructional design and technology services and support directly to faculty, staff, or other customers
  • Mentors CETL staff and UWO instructors in the areas of learning theory, instructional design models, assessment, and instructional methods
  • Monitors the CETL budget and approves expenditures
  • Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked for CETL instructional designers (2.0 FTE)
  • Manages faculty instructional development and engagement programs

Qualifications
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Three years' experience in instructional design and technology or a closely related field
  • Experience with course design and Canvas or similar LMS environment
  • Knowledge of universal design and the creation of ADA-compliant courses across modes of delivery
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in interdisciplinary or cross-functional teams.
  • Attention to detail, flexibility, and responsiveness are critical.
  • Evidence of initiative and independent judgment
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Preferred:
  • Master's degree in instructional design and technology or related field strongly preferred
  • Ability to resolve technical problems and provide support to faculty, students, and staff
  • Knowledge of innovative teaching practices and best practices for delivering instruction to a range of students, including developmental, first generation, online, and adult learners
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and address multiple demands
