Kaytee is growing and currently looking to add a Production Manager role for our food manufacturing operation based in Chilton, WI. Reporting directly to the Sr. Operations Manager, this strong candidate will be responsible for managing strategic performance of the Pet and Wild Bird operations. This role will oversee department supervisors and look to develop loss analysis opportunities, process optimization opportunities, net pro projects and ultimately focus on continuous improvement while delivering financial results. This role will report out on Monthly KPIs, develop pipelines of optimization projects and direct the team that drives safe, quality product at the lowest cost possible. This role is a leader of leaders and is responsible for the development of the leadership team and the direct performance of the departments. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

MEASURES OF SUCCESS
  • Manage two supervisors who oversee shift operations of employees involved in all aspects of production and packaging.
  • Identify and provide improvement opportunities in cost reduction, uptime, VA/VE using productivity tools.
  • Work collaboratively with Sr, Ops Manager on development and Continuous improvement to department and company KPIs.
  • Compiles, stores, and shares a compelling business case / story to support Capex, BOM changes, modifications to operation using CI tools and system analysis such as SAP and Shoplogix production software.
  • Proactive advocate as it relates to safety, minimizing exposure to incidents, recordable and lost time injuries. Support in the roll out of safety campaigns, KPIs, instruction and participation.
  • Manage staffing levels, cost, priorities and performance to maximize productivity and customer service.
  • Reviews schedules and evaluates opportunities or promotes optimization for scheduled delivery dates or organizational benefits.
  • Leads in the development of Level 10 / Level 20 / Level 30 operators maintenance development planning. Supports in building out skills matrices and partners with maintenance manager to develop skills for operators.
  • Improves and refines standard operational and working practices.
  • Resolves department conflict, supports supervisors and HR in dispute/conflict management.
  • Monitor line performance of equipment and facilities, coordinating corrective action both strategic and tactical.
  • Manage compliance with SQF requirements, housekeeping and other quality initiatives.
  • Responsible for reporting any Food Safety issues to authorized personnel for correction.
  • Support in the roll out of Food Safety Initiatives and compliance within the department.
IDEAL CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES
  • Minimum of 4-7 years of manufacturing supervision or management in a food manufacturing plant or similar fast-paced environment.
  • A Management Degree is highly desirable.
  • Ability to foster a positive work environment with open communication.
  • Demonstrate positive leadership skills including strong interpersonal, communication, problem solving, and team building skills.
  • Ability to motivate, develop and direct people.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Loss Analysis, CI or Lean Principals of operation. SAP experience is helpful; but will train.
  • Promote teamwork, safe work environment, and positive culture
  • Excellent organizational skills with a high degree of initiative and flexibility.
  • Understand production policies and procedures regarding Safety, quality and operations.
  • Ability to regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 60 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Work is performed in a manufacturing/warehouse environment.
  • Work temperatures can vary due to outside temperatures.
  • Hours of work will generally be during regular business hours (on each respective shift) and average at least 40 hours a week.
  • There may be some variation in work hours due to overtime, special projects, deadlines, and other concerns.
