Heartland Business Systems was established in 1992 when Heartland Label Printers, LLC merged with Alferi Communications. Heartland Business Systems provides technology solutions to corporate, healthcare, education, government and not-for-profit organizations.  These solutions include computer networking; technology planning; internet, data center, hosting, monitoring, security and managed services; cabling and audio/video solutions; and software consulting. Through Heartland Label Printers, Heartland Business Systems is also able to provide thermal and thermal transfer printer technology and label media to its customers.
 

In 1998 Heartland moved into its present location in Little Chute, WI. In 2000 a 10,000 square foot addition was added to the 23,000 square foot facility. In 2004 Heartland not only added another 10,500 square feet in Little Chute, but also opened a location in Milwaukee, WI and established Avastone Technologies, the programming division that provides custom programming, web site design, Microsoft Dynamics and SharePoint implementation, search engine optimization and other related services.  Heartland completed another 16,375 square foot addition in June of 2007 at the Little Chute location which provided 5,000 square feet of office space and 11,000 square feet in the manufacturing area.
 

In 2010 Heartland purchased a neighboring property and in spring 2012 completed the connection of the two buildings to create 99,050 square feet of office and manufacturing space in Little Chute.  Heartland also opened an office in Lisle, IL.

Heartland entered the south central Wisconsin region in early 2013 with the opening of their Madison, WI office.

Heartland employs more than 500 people with Avastone employing another 50 people.
