JOB PURPOSE:

Design, enhance, and maintain all aspects of the Midco Business Network.

KEY FUNCTIONS:

  • Engineer and design the Business Network to meet customer demand.
  • Identify and leads technical projects, upgrades, and deployments.
  • Support, maintain and upgrade existing Business Network. Install new hardware to stay ahead of customer demand.
  • Develop test plans to facilitate vendor selection for new Business product offerings.
  • Develop MOPs and tools to ease the deployment of new service orders and network configurations.
  • Evaluate new vendor hardware and software.
  • Work on customer trouble tickets and resolve outages on the Business Network.
  • Work with vendors for design, installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation.
  • Mentor intra/inter-departmental peers as subject matter expert.
  • Use knowledge and analytics to improve the Business network and processes.
  • Possess project management skills.
  • Cisco hardware architecture and software knowledge.
  • Knowledge on packet capture setup and analysis.
  • Demonstrated strategic knowledge of MEF Standards.
  • Demonstrated strategic knowledge of network protocols and technologies including TCP/IP, OSI Model, IPv4, IPv6, SIP, IP Video, ACL's, Spanning Tree, MP-BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, IS-IS, MPLS, MPLS-TE, L2VPN, L3VPN, H-QoS, Segment Routing, SD-WAN and transport technologies.
  • Demonstrated strategic knowledge of network monitoring and management tools including, SolarWinds, AKIPS, WAE, NSO, NETCONF, YANG, syslog and telemetry.
  • Create efficiencies through scripting such as Bash, Python and Ansible.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Train Technology Group personnel and other group members as necessary.
  • Mentor new hires and existing staff as required.
  • Effectively communicate with other departments to handle any escalating issues in a timely manner.
  • Compile timely, comprehensive, and accurate reports as requested.
  • Function as an effective team member while supporting the efforts and concepts of other departments.
  • Support the mission, vision, and values of Midco.
  • Apply personal ethics, honesty, initiative, flexibility, responsibility and confidentiality in all areas of responsibility.
  • Possess an enthusiastic, energetic, self-motivated, and detail-oriented approach towards work and all work projects.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or carry loads of up to 70 lbs.
  • The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. The Employee must be able to work in an outdoor environment year around in all weather conditions. The Employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock, radiation, and vibration.
  • Employees may be required to work in excess of 40 hours per week and other than normal business hours, such as holidays, evenings and weekends as business demands.
